Abstract

In this paper, the discrete element modeling method was employed to evaluate the seismic performance of masonry-infilled reinforced concrete (RC) frames. Three-dimensional discrete element models were developed and validated by using experimental data extracted from literature in terms of the lateral bearing capacity and hysteresis curve. Good agreement implied that the discrete element modeling could be used to predict the seismic performance of RC frames infilled with masonry walls with reasonable accuracy.
