Abstract

High-speed brushless DC motor is used in high power density applications, such as vacuum pumps, centrifugal pump and so on. This paper mainly focuses on the high frequency winding copper loss, and rotor eddy current loss. The rules of AC loss of winding with parallel wind number and parallel connection number are analyzed. The circumferential and axial sectional form of magnet are analyzed to reduce the rotor eddy current loss. At last the efficiency is compared with three kinds of pole-slot combination: 18-slot 6-pole(q = 1), 6-slot-4-pole(q = 0.5), 12-slot 10-pols(q = 0.4), which is suitable for high-speed operation with square wave driving method.
