Abstract

When I think of modern statistics, Dr C.R. Rao features on the top of the list. He once said that statistics is the technology of finding the invisible and measuring the immeasurable.

Permission was obtained by the author from the Indian Academy of Sciences to reproduce the article ‘C.R. Rao: A Life in Statistics, B.L.S. Prakasa Rao, CURRENT SCIENCE, 10 September 2014, Vol. 107 (5), pp. 895–901’.
