Dermoscopy - Histopathology Correlation

Abstract

Vascular disease consists of skin lesions that predominantly result from derangement in the vasculature. They include tumors, nevi and vasculitic lesions (inflammation of vessels). Lesions are either flat or raised. Majority of the vascular lesions look similar mandating a confirmatory investigative test. Histopathology is considered to be the gold standard method. Recently, dermoscopy has proven its role in the diagnosis of vascular conditions. It is not only useful in the accurate diagnosis but also assists in the treatment monitoring of vascular lesions. Here, authors have highlighted the dermoscopic features and their histopathological changes in skin of color.
