Der Index der menschlichen Entwicklung (HDI) ist ein zusammenfassendes Maß für die durchschnittliche Leistung in den Schlüsseldimensionen der menschlichen Entwicklung: ein langes und gesundes Leben, Wissen und ein angemessener Lebensstandard. Der HDI ist das geometrische Mittel der normalisierten Indizes für jede der drei Dimensionen, zu denen die Lebenserwartung bei der Geburt, die Bildungsjahre von Erwachsenen im Alter von 25 Jahren und mehr, die erwarteten Bildungsjahre von Kindern im schulpflichtigen Alter und das Bruttonationaleinkommen pro Kopf gehören.

Die evidenzbasierte Politikgestaltung ist ein Ansatz, der den Menschen hilft, gut informierte Entscheidungen über politische Maßnahmen, Programme und Projekte zu treffen.
