Abstract
Metal foam recently has grabbed a significant amount of interest due to its promising prospects in fulfilling the crisis led by steel and its counterparts. The recent studies indicated commercialization of metal foam which is disrupted mainly because of high cost and lack of design knowledge. Industries had expressed the need of more detailed studies, in order to the amicability of the material to machining, joining and other manufacturing processes. Thus, this article, in brief, clubs all the major processing routes of metal foams along with their limitations. It also discusses how secondary processing methods can contribute in tailoring metal foam for different applications. The article shall help future researchers to bridge the existing gaps which restricts metal foam utility in concerned industries.
