Abstract

The south of Xiaotang area is located in the southeast of the north slope of Tazhong uplift. Combined with the regional stress background, strike slip faults are developed in the south of Xiaotang. Based on the study of geometry, kinematics characteristics and formation mechanism of faults in Xiaotang area and the formation mechanism of fault system, the three-dimensional 375 km2 fault system in southern Xiaotang is interpreted. Combined with the regional stress background, typical fault combination and sandbox physical simulation experiment results, The fault section, plane development style and genetic mechanism in Xiaotang area are analyzed. The structural style characteristics and genetic mechanism of strike slip faults are clarified. The characteristics of left lateral strike slip deformation in the southern area of Xiaotang are summarized. Based on a series of sandbox physical simulation, the fracture development law in the overlap area is revealed. Fault overlap area and intersection area are high quality carbonate reservoir development areas.
