Abstract

Device-to-device communication (D2D) allows direct communication of two devices in the network and initially proposed for cellular networks. D2D finds applications where there is no preexisting/damaged infrastructure network is available. With the advent of technology, there is large possibility of the data to be hacked in various methods. There are a wide range of security protocols that help in preventing these attacks in the upper layers. But securing the data in the physical layer itself will provide smooth communication with low overhead and high spectrum efficiency. There have been a few physical layer security protocols available in the literature. In this paper, the key issues in security of D2D communication at physical layer and the available solutions are presented.
