The Post-Pandemic World and Global Politics

Abstract

In the previous chapter, we drew on applicable concepts to explain pandemics and global politics. In this particular book, in the broadest sense, concepts and theories are one or more assumptions involving virus spread, blame games, and politics. This chapter would not have been grounded if it had not been for the prior one. Chapter 2 is crucial for readers to grasp and connect the context, previous crises with the current one the world is experiencing. This chapter examines how and why a global crisis gets politicized, as well as the implications of doing so. The perceptions of infection risk influence individuals’ compliance with regulations. Several researchers have identified a link between individual-level political tendency and perceptions of COVID-19-related health risk.
