Abstract

The palynological taxa from 185 samples of 3 main sections (Chahe, Zhejue and Mide B) in western Guizhou and eastern Yunnan, South China, reflect the basic palynofloral variations across the PTB associations of similar characteristics, three palynological assemblages across the PTBST have been recognized: Leiotriletes–Triquitrites–Laevigatosporites–Gardenasporites assemblage (Late Permian Changhsingian), the fungi “spike” assemblage (Permian-Triassic transitional Bed), and Aratrisporites–Lundbladispora–Lunatisporites assemblage (Early Triassic Induan). The palynomorphs show an abrupt change of palynofloras across the PTB, marked by a distinct drop of palynomorphs in both abundance and diversity. It also indicates a stepwise extinction pattern as marine fauna did. In addition, the palynoflora was compared with the coeval ones of other regions.
