Abstract

The Homi ni Oiden festival includes food culture and samba as Brazilian elements in a simple way, and also has American oldies music and Okinawan Eisa. Homi ni Oiden has no political or educational intent regarding multicultural coexistence. However, unlike local events, Homi ni Oiden is intended to create a new type of event for Japanese-Brazilians and to give them an opportunity to participate in this area. In addition, it is also an opportunity to come into contact with cultures that are different from their own, whether it be food culture or music culture. For Japanese people, samba and churrasco, and for Brazilians, Gohei-mochi and Oiden dance are gradually becoming their own. It has been accepted as the local culture.
