Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising new technology as it manages multicarrier modulation. Due to the high spectral bandwidth efficiency and robustness against multipath fading and intersymbol interference (ISI), the OFDM has been accepted for several high data rate wireless communication systems. But the OFDM system’s major disadvantage is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Hence, the execution of PAPR reduction methods in the OFDM system assists in defeating the high PAPR problem. Software-defined radio (SDR) is a radio platform that is flexible and makes wireless networks highly adaptive. Hence, in this paper, the performance of the selective mapping (SLM) and clipping and filtering PAPR reduction techniques are analysed for SDR-based OFDM systems using LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench). The proposed work not only provides a simpler method for PAPR reduction but also scalable for a large value of data in the form of bits.
