Abstract

EUS-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) using a lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) has an evolving role in the palliation of malignant and benign gastric outlet obstruction. Multiple small series have documented favorable outcomes for patients who undergo EUS-GE as a non-operative alternative to laparoscopic gastrojejunostomy or the endoscopic standard of enteral stent placement. There are multiple published methods for performing EUS-GE. The direct method has the advantage of fewer procedural steps contributing to a shorter stent deployment time compared to other methods.
