Abstract

The article is devoted to the issue of ensuring the necessary operational reliability of buildings and structures under the action of standard loads and beyond-design impacts. The analysis of technical literature, scientific research, and current regulatory documents on protection against progressive collapse is carried out. This problem is relevant all over the world. The article considers the causes of progressive collapse of buildings and options for the design analysis of structural systems, analyzes existing methods for assessing the structural safety of buildings and structures, and considers design proposals for protecting buildings and structures from progressive destruction. Proposals for the further development of the regulatory framework on the issue under consideration are given.
