Abstract
Ground radar is easily affected by land clutter when detecting ground targets. Firstly, The characteristics of land clutter in high resolution range profile (HRRP) of ground radar are analyzed. Based on radar equation, combined with ground radar working environment and Kulemin backscattering model, a land clutter model based on HRRP is derived, which is suitable for various ground types. According to the derived model, a land clutter simulation method which can quickly get the land clutter power of HRRP range distribution units is proposed. By dividing the ground into multiple scattering units, the simulation results show that this method has the advantage of calculation speed. Experiments were carried out on soil ground and asphalt pavement using C-band LFMCW radar. The simulation and experimental results show that the model can accurately reflect the land clutter power on many kinds of ground, and the two parameters in the model can be used to distinguish different ground types.
