Natural Products from Actinomycetes

Abstract

Actinobacteria are widely known for the production of secondary metabolites, many of which have found application in the clinic. Despite being one of the most extensively explored bacterial phyla, Actinobacteria from polar regions are still overlooked. In this chapter, the taxonomic diversity of Actinobacteria isolated from the poles, their associated secondary metabolites, and the diversity of biosynthetic genes that encode for polyketides and non-ribosomal peptides will be covered.
