Abstract

Synovial chondromatosis can be classified into primary and secondary ones. In primary synovial chondromatosis, metaplasia of the synovial membrane occurs with the formation of chondral or osteochondral nodules within the synovial membrane, which may be detached and form loose bodies. Elbow joint is the most commonly involved joint of the upper limb. Arthroscopic synovectomy of the elbow and removal of loose bodies is an effective treatment modality for phase 2 and 3 diseases. In this chapter, the details of arthroscopic management of synovial chondromatosis are described.
