Abstract
Using the relevant data of various regions in China from 2011 to 2018, a panel data model is built to empirically analyze the main influencing factors of 31 regions. The empirical results of regional full sample model show that FAI (fixed asset investment), economic development level, TIL (technological innovation level) and HC (human capital) are significantly positively correlated with export sophistication, while FDI (foreign direct investment) has a significant inhibitory effect on export sophistication. The empirical study of the classified sample model finds that there are significant differences in the direction and intensity of the effects of the above factors on different types of regions. Among them, FAI, economic development level and HC have a significant role in promoting export sophistication, but the intensity of the effects decreases gradually from East to West. The effects of FDI and technological innovation level on the export sophistication of the three types of regions are not only different in intensity, but also different in direction. This finding provides an important reference for the policy choices of different types of regions in China to improve the export sophistication.
