Abstract
In this paper, the differentiated incentive effect of patent pool formation on specific technology learning of high-tech companies is empirically analyzed, based on open innovation theory and innovation network theory. The patents applied by companies in the MPEG-2 patent pool from 1997 to 2018 are collected as panel data. From the open innovation perspective, the logical relationship between patent pool formation, network position, and specific technology learning is revealed. The research results show that establishing a patent pool promotes specific technology learning among enterprises in the pool; compared to enterprises at the edge of the network, establishing a patent pool can more effectively promote specific technology learning among enterprises in the center of the network.
