Abstract

Roll-to-roll processing technology is widely used in packaging and printing and even in the field of flexible electronics in the rapid development of science and technology. In roll-to-roll processing, the stability of tension is the prerequisite to ensure the printing quality. The influence of the web parameters, the unwinding roll radius and unwinding velocity on unwinding tension is investigated. Based on an established mathematical tension model in the unwinding process, the relationships between the tension fluctuation and the roll diameter, material parameters of the unwinding material such as web width and thickness are given. The ABAQUS finite element simulation model is used to simulate the dynamic property of the unwinding process. The results show that the conclusion is drawn that the tension would increase with the decrease of roller radius and the width and thickness of the web are positively correlated with the tension.
