Biomaterials in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine

Abstract

The frontiers of future human health care system lies in advanced interdisciplinary areas of tissue engineering (TE) and regenerative medicine (RM). The success of TE and RM is indispensible with biomaterials. Advances in the development and fabrication of biomaterials paved the way for TE and RM to revolutionize modern medical treatment. In the present chapter we have detailed the various aspects of biomaterials, TE and RM. Glimpses of brief historical aspects of these topics are presented in this chapter along with the scope and concepts of TE, RM, and biomaterials.
