Abstract
This chapter introduces the diverse range of disciplines and scholarship brought together in this collection. It is hoped that the spectrum of viewpoints presented in this book will challenge some existing views and norms of space as distant, harsh and barren, and reflect instead the reality of this vast domain as a vibrant and vital subject for study, exploration and inspiration.
