Abstract

Over the recent decades, incorporating vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) into cloud computing plays a vital role, since it provides a reliable safety journey to vehicular drivers, passengers, etc. However, attaining security and emergency message dissemination is still major bottleneck in VANET combined Cloud, due to the dynamic nature of vehicles and wireless communication. This paper presents the motivation with research gaps in the VANET-cloud environment. Integration of VANET into cloud environment provides ubiquitous advantages to the users in terms of the high level of infotainment information storage and faster response to the user request. Most of the works presented in the VANET-cloud environment provides security by authenticating vehicles only. However, there is also a chance to deploy malicious RSU on the roadsides. As yet, there is a research gap in authenticating roadside unit (RSU) in order to provide high level security to VANET-Cloud communication. And also, there is a lack in providing security to the user credentials stored in the cloud.
