Abstract
Museums, as organizations, are one of the most functional ways to transfer a society’s cultural and moral values to future generations. The aim of this study is to determine how promotion can affect industrial heritage tourism at an industry museum in Ayvalık, Turkey. Research data were collected by interview using a semi-structured information form. The interview was held in August 2018. Research results indicate that industry museums are tools for creating industry awareness; innovation is necessary for visitor satisfaction; cooperation strategies with stakeholders are vital for increasing the number of visitors; and museums must have aspects that attract visitors’ attention. The study also revealed that the museum followed the strategies of effectively using social media, attracting other media, organizing temporary exhibitions with different artifacts, and being visible in cultural and artistic activities to increase the effect of promotion.
