Abstract

Increase in the emission of greenhouse gases, global warming, government policies, and raise in the awareness about the benefits of the renewable energy resources are the key factors for increase in the penetration of renewable energy resources in the existing system. This integration is mainly done in the form of Distributed Generation (DG). The Integration of DG in distribution system converts passive network into an active network. For extracting maximum benefits of integration of DG, optimal size of DG should be integrated at optimum location. In this paper, performance analysis of a distribution system is studied after the optimal placement of DG. For optimal placement, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used. Performance analysis is done for multi-DG placement. For detailed study, IEEE 33-bus radial distribution system is considered as test system.
