Abstract
A low profile slot antenna over an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) has been proposed to achieve high gain and high directivity. Bidirectional radiation of the slot antenna has been converted into directive radiation by using 4 × 4 unit cells of artificial magnetic conductor. Further, the gap among the slot antenna and AMC surface has been kept at 10 mm only which makes the antenna low profile. Verification of this occurrence is confirmed by carrying out a simulation. The antenna records an impedance bandwidth (S11 < −10 dB) of 6% after integrating it with an AMC surface. The simulated peak gain of 8.38 dB is obtained at the centre frequency of 2.4 GHz.
