Heterocycles via Cross Dehydrogenative Coupling

Abstract

Cross-dehydrogenative coupling has become a powerful tool in organic synthesis. The current developments in the assembly and functionalization of S-heterocycles using this strategy are highlighted in this chapter. The preparation of benzothiophenes, benzothiazoles and cyclic sultams and sulfoxides by intramolecular C(sp2)–H/S–H and C(sp2)–H/C(sp2)–H coupling is discussed. In addition, the coupling of S-heterocycles to arenes and aliphatic compounds is also presented.
