Ocular Adnexal Lesions

Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma commonly metastasises to the lung, liver, and bone and only rarely to the orbit, eyelid, or choroid. Similar to other metastatic tumours, most cases of renal cell carcinoma metastatic to the orbit have a known primary neoplasm that may have been diagnosed many years earlier. The metastatic lesion may rarely be the first presentation. It tends to mimic a benign tumour or a cystic lesion. It is highly vascular and enhances with contrast during imaging. Surgical excision is recommended for resectable metastatic tumours.
