Abstract
Prostate cancer refers to epithelial malignant tumors occurring in the prostate. Pathological types include adenocarcinoma (acinar adenocarcinoma), ductal adenocarcinoma, urothelial carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma. Prostate adenocarcinoma accounts for more than 98% of prostate tumor. In 2008, the global standardized incidence of prostate cancer was 285/100,000, and the standardized mortality rate was 7.5/100,000. It ranked second among male malignant tumors and sixth among the causes of male cancer deaths worldwide. The incidence of prostate cancer in Asia is far lower than that in Europe and the United States, but in recent years it has shown an upward trend. In 2005, the standardized incidence in China was 16/100,000, rising to 42/100,000 in 2006, 43/100,000 in 2007 and 45.7/100,000 in 2008. Early stage prostate cancer usually has no symptoms, but when the tumor invades or obstructs the urethra and bladder neck, it will have similar symptoms of lower urinary tract obstruction or irritation. In severe cases, acute urinary retention, hematuria and urinary incontinence may occur. Bone metastasis can cause bone pain, pathological fracture, anemia, spinal cord compression or even lower limb paralysis.
