Abstract

Lack of practicum has been a longtime problem for students of translation due to the different requirement for translators in different fields and translation agency’s reluctance to use students’ translation. Eagle Eye Translation Service, College of Foreign Languages, and Fujian Normal University jointly developed China’s first online practicum system of specialized translation that offers unlimited opportunities of vocational practice. The practice materials are market-orientated, focusing on much-needed skills on language service jobs that are rarely taught in universities. With mentors’ guidance, students are exposed to the corporate atmosphere and culture in which they develop professional competence. The online practicum system has served students from more than two hundred colleges and universities home and abroad.
