Abstract
The CO2 laser is a tool to enable endoscopic surgical treatment of laryngeal cancers. Minimally invasive trans-oral endoscopic treatment is obviously attractive to both patients and physicians and has been attempted for over a century. It was however the development of surgical innovations such as suspension laryngoscopy, microlaryngeal surgery, and the use of operating microscope for laryngeal surgery supplemented with their coupling with the CO2 laser which has enabled a new paradigm in laryngeal surgical oncology wherein surgery can be simultaneously minimally invasive and also oncologically appropriate [1–3].
