Abstract

In this paper, an audio compression technique has been made based on Adaptive Differential Pulse-Code Modulation (ADPCM) and Run-Length Coding (RLC). The present technique has been developed in two phases-encoding phase signal and encoding amplitude signal respectively. Sampling the acquired audio succeeded by separating its phase and amplitude components. Phase signal is encoded by its height (magnitude value) and length (time) whereas, the amplitude signal is encoded by ADPCM expanding over different precession levels followed by RLC for generating more compressed pattern. The experimental results along with comparisons with existing techniques represent the compression ratio and efficiency of the present audio compression technique.
