Abstract

The present review serves to present a limited number of community factors that contribute to mental ill health and well-being and when addressed can lead to improved psychological health. The community-level factors that can be addressed through social work interventions or social work-led initiatives include exposure to green spaces, civic engagement, and alcohol outlet density. The chapter proposed that actions taken at the community level such as advocacy for and usage of public parks, volunteerism, and actions taken to help regulate accessibility to alcohol consumption may have potential for directly or indirectly prevent mental ill health and improve population mental health.
