Abstract
In 1968, Fontan and his colleagues performed the original Fontan surgery for a patient with tricuspid atresia successfully. The original Fontan surgery constitutes five surgical procedures. The mixed blood from systemic and pulmonary circulation is separated, and the pulmonary blood flow is reconstructed.
