Abstract

According to the meshing principle of elliptical gear, focusing on the design of elliptical gear tooth profile, an example is given to elaborate the design process of elliptical gear detailedly. The eccentricity of elliptical gear and the radius of curvature radius are obtained by the compiled program as well as the pitch curves and tooth profile are generated in the electronic drawing board by using the conversion method of tooth profile. Finally the 3D model of elliptical gear is carried out and motion characteristics is analyzed. The design method proposed can be used to provide the basis for the design of other non-circular gear with closed pitch curve.
