Abstract
Plant factory with artificial lighting (PFAL) is an emerging industry in Taiwan and attracting much attention. The number of companies involved in PFAL operations has increased from fewer than 10 to more than 100 in the past 5 years. Unlike traditional agricultural systems, PFALs can eliminate almost all the risks in production, although profitability cannot be guaranteed unless the business model is properly designed and implemented. This chapter focuses on introducing business models currently utilized in Taiwan.
