Abstract

After almost three decades of researching and teaching the many Early Modern women writers who wrote in Spanish across the globe, certain moments stand out in acutely vivid detail: A well-intentioned mentor, discretely pulling one of us aside after a conference panel to admonish, “You have real potential—I don’t want you to waste it on these women writers—you’ll only marginalize yourself.”
