Abstract

She lay curled under the covers and awoke with a gasp as if she had been under water. She blinked away her sleepiness and turned to see the clock—9:00 a.m. Rolling over on her back, Karyn put her hand over her forehead and began thinking through the pieces. At 5:30 a.m. she had found the patio door unlocked, her grocery list still on the table, her body marked by the deck slats and she had climbed into bed. All of this was returning to her in staccato-style fragments.
