The Effects of Danshen on Respiratory Diseases and Their Mechanisms

Abstract

The respiratory system is composed of the respiratory tract and lungs. The respiratory tract includes the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, and all levels of bronchi, and the lung consists of the pulmonary parenchyma (bronchial tree and alveoli of lung) and pulmonary interstitial substance (connective tissues, blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, and nerves). The respiratory system is the interface between ambient air and the intracorporeal organs and tissues. During respiration, various harmful substances contained in the inhaled air enter the lungs, and the pulmonary circulation receives venous blood from the entire body, so injuring factors entering the human body from other areas can affect the lungs.
