Abstract

This chapter presents soil and soil-related research activities in Slovenia. It discusses early soil surveying and mapping, including the first soil map, which was published in approximately 1873. In general, soil research in Slovenia started at the beginning of the twentieth century and intensified after WWII. This chapter presents the research activities of a number of Slovenian soil scientists, agriculturalists, foresters, and geographers. The institutions that carry out soil research and/or teach soil science are also briefly presented.
