Abstract
Importance of shade for the animals is explained. Factors affecting shade efficiency are described: ground cover and temperature, exposure to the sky and sun elevation and its calculation. Protection is given by a shelter and factors affecting it: position of shelter, height, walls, ground cover and building materials. Calculation and prediction of the shade are given by a shelter. Tree shade and thermal comfort are also discussed. Calculation and prediction of the shade are also given by a tree, according to the shape of its crown.
