Abstract
The Sustainable Energy Initiative (SEI) of the Faculty of Environmental Studies of York University was established to develop practical solutions to the numerous social and environmental problems created by society’s reliance on nuclear power and fossil fuels. The SEI’s research and pedagogical approaches are based on knowledge mobilization, experiential learning, peer mentoring and internationalization strategies. This chapter provides an overview of those strategies and also an applied analysis of the pragmatic roles that learning institutions and educators can undertake to address social and environmental challenges.
