Samenvatting

Epilepsie kenmerkt zich door het spontaan optreden van een plotselinge overmatige productie van actiepotentialen door hersencellen waardoor, meestal kortdurend, stoornissen in de hersenfuncties ontstaan, afhankelijk van het hersengebied of de hersengebieden waar zich deze overmatige ontladingen voordoen.
