Abstract
Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are first described in the early 1980s. Inserting a PICC evolved from a direct approach using the antecubital veins and direct puncture to the Modified Seldinger Technique both bedside and under fluoroscopy. To achieve a high success rate, there is a need for skilled experts and the right tools to support optimal practice. This chapter will offer a number of helpful tips and tricks to overcome some of the obstacles and challenges that each practitioner will encounter.
