Abstract

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), which include Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), are chronic inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract [1]. IBD cause significant gastrointestinal symptoms, among which are diarrhea, abdominal pain, bleeding, anemia, and weight loss. They are also associated with a spectrum of extraintestinal manifestations, such as arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, sclerosing cholangitis, uveitis, iritis, pyoderma gangrenosum, and erythema nodosum.
