Abstract
“Mediated communication” is the research area that studies technologies to mediate communication in order to overcome the limitations of time and distance. Mediated communication studies are often discussed in the area of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). This section first introduces the basic and some important research topics in this area, then describes some studies of mediated communication systems.
