Abstract
The 67-year-old woman was diagnosed with a 20 mm invasive ductal carcinoma in the inner lower quadrant of the right breast (Fig. 11.1a). Clinically the tumor showed an ulceration of the skin; the axillary lymph nodes were unsuspicious. Due to the choice of the patient and the biology of the tumor (intermediate grade, receptor positive, Her-2-neu negative, Ki 67 5 %), no neoadjuvant chemotherapy was given. Breast conservation surgery was planned with a wide local excision of the tumor and immediate reconstruction of the defect with a small cutaneous rotation flap from the thoracic wall (Fig. 11.1a–c). The breast was of medium size and moderate ptosis.
