Olympische Spiele als Impulsgeber für eine nachhaltige Stadterneuerung? Das Beispiel Tokio

Zusammenfassung

Die räumliche und zeitliche Konzentration von Ressourcen im Kontext der Olympischen Spiele 2020/21 hat umfangreiche Bauaktivitäten ausgelöst, die zu einem massiven Umbau der Metropole Tokio geführt haben. Die Spiele haben der Stadterneuerung einen zusätzlichen Antrieb und neue Dynamik verliehen, sie sind aber nicht ursächlich dafür. Die innere Stadterweiterung durch Nachverdichtung und Ausweichen in die Vertikale bedeutet aufgrund der Vielzahl ähnlicher Projekte eine zunehmende architektonische Gleichförmigkeit und Monotonie, Bevölkerungsverlagerungen innerhalb des Großraums zugunsten der Stadtumbauquartiere, vor allem an der Waterfront, sowie neue kleinräumige Konzentrationsprozesse und Ballungsprobleme.
