Abstract

Ionizing radiation is used for the early detection and diagnosis of diseases by imaging techniques and for the treatment of malignant tumors. The physical principles, the origin of the different types of radiation and their interaction with matter will be examined in more detail in the following sections. Special attention will be paid to the radiation protection of the examiner.
