Zusammenfassung
Grundsätzlich gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten, der Resistenzentwicklung gegenzusteuern: Erstens eine Senkung des Antibiotikaeinsatzes bei Mensch und Tier, damit weniger resistente Keime selektioniert und weniger resistente Keime in die Umwelt eingetragen werden, z. B. durch Antibiotika-Stewardship-Programme. Zweitens eine Begrenzung der Ausbreitung durch Übertragung (Infektionsprävention/Kolonisationsprävention) durch klassische Hygienemaßnahme in medizinischen Einrichtungen und im Alltag. Grundlagen- und Anwendungsforschung sind gleichermaßen erforderlich, um ein besseres Verständnis von Resistenzentstehung und -verbreitung zu gewinnen und wirksame Präventionsstrategien zu entwickeln bzw. umzusetzen.
